      In the area of flaterial handling eq~ipment items suc~ as seals,
`0"   rings   and  fan  belts   had   `ir'; rotted.    These deletertous
shortcomings had the potential ~f being a         Iwar stopper."    It was
too often that ~arines such as GySgt ~scobedo, ~`)peratidn Chief 1st
CEB, GySgt Glenn, Maintenance Chief 2nd CZ~, CWO Smithers. 7th ESB1
OWO   l~ing,  ~th  ~SB,   SSgt  Richardson,    Engineer Chie~    2nd  Tank
3attalion,    and (~O Stou~,  1st tSB,    ~choed the lac:~ of rnai~tenance
conducted on these items.      They also e~pressed their concorn about
the   lack  ot technical     manuals  tor   ~ew iteas  of equipment,    no
modification bein~ conducted and no StJ components.

      There were a total of twent7-one audio tape.~ and two h'~~red
surveys conducted.

      Follow-up ran `~e *oerfc:rmed oy con~~cting th~~se ~ar~n~s listed
above.
