                               PERSONNEL ISSUE NO. 4 GME During Contingencies
                               (SGHR ITEM NO. 25)
       
         DISCUSSION: Deployment of unique/specialized skill personnel that support GME
         or narrow clinical specialties causes problems. Some critical specialties were
         bereft of staffing and IMAs were sought on a by-name basis as required.
       
         RECOMMENDATION: Ensure IMA assets with requisite skills are pre-identified to
         support GME, other teaching programs, and specialty programs. Where critical
         individuals cannot be backfilled, consider exemption from mobility.
       
         ACTIONS REQUIRED: Pre-identify IMA assets with requisite skills to support
         GME, teaching programs, and specialty programs. Consider exemption of
         teaching/specialty personnel from mobility.
       
         ACTIONS COMPLETED: ARPC has a database (under ARPC/XPX) that is being utilized
         to identify personnel with special qualifications. A test of this system is
         scheduled to determine its viability for late Jun 94.
