            2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/19/91.

            3. (U) KEYWORDS: RWO (REAL WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY), GUARD
            COMPONENT, RESERVE COMPONENT, COMMUNICATIONS, TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS,
            COMMERCIAL, INTEROPERABILITY, PLANNING.

            4. (U) TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS: RESERVE UNITS TELEPHONE REQUIREMENTS

            5. (U) OBSERVATION: Class AA Telephone Service was not available
            to Reserve units upon arrival at Fort Riley.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION: The Reserve units still had-a need to
            communicate with their home stations. The problem was corrected
            by providing this service after the fact.

            7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: When requesting telephone service on the
            (3938) telephone work request, at least one Class AA number
            should be included.


            S. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the host unit submit required
            work request.
