           4. (U) TITLE. COMMUNICATIONS: CONTROL OF COMSEC KEY TAPES


           5. (U) OBSERVATION: Key tapes for COMSEC to the AUTODIN (Query
           & Response) terminal in the Division Material Management Center
           (DMMC) were not returned to COMSEC account upon deployment which
           breached security regulations.

           6. (U) DISCUSSION: Key tapes +or any classified information/
           documents should be properly secured or transferred to the
           proponent +or the in+ormation/dOCLtment. Failure to do so
           results in a security violation. Proper procedures must be
           implemented to avoid future violations.

           7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Key tapes must be returned to proper
           proponent, and COMSEC managers must ensure compliance to
           eliminate future security violations.

           B. (U) RECOMMENDED.ACTION: That,+LttLtre deployment planning
           include checklist +or tlirn-in of COMSEC material prior to
           deployment.
