            4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: NBC: PROTECTIVE MASK ASL

            S. (U) OBSERVATION: Sufficient protective masks were on-hand at
installation to meet unit needs +or sizing and +ill of
            requisitions on site.

            6. (U) DISCUSSION- Some 3200 masks were authorized on the TDA
to support ROTC. This pool served the deployment of the ist
.Division and non-clivisional units nigh to depletion.
Upon railroad in Nov and Dec 90 however, these units shipped
any unassigned masks by surface. Hence there were no masks for
units to issue to alter arriving replacements.
Since replacements could not be assigned to units without
the mask, a bubble of some 200+ persons formed at lst
Replacement Co. The G3 directed additional masks be ordered on
            a dummy DODAAC.
In addition, RC units required protective masks for issue
            and sizing.
As a consequence, Fort Riley requested authorization from
AMCCOM on 14 Dec 90 to obtain fill of requisitions for a mask
            ASL composed of 124 XS, 348 S, 665 M and 128 L M17 Series Masks,
based on a 60 day history of need. The request was honored and
            served its purpose.
