RIYADH provided by USCINCCENT staff and major media principal
correspondents operating from fixed positions in the rear
(is.. network anchors and their support staffg) receiving
pooled material from CCPS as well as Individual reporters
working unilaterally in rear areas supported by JIB RIYADH
and JIB DHAHRAN.
(d) (U) Primary coverage of post-hogtilitieg
operations/training/exercines associated with OPERATION
DESERT STORM will be conducted as in the pre-hostilities
phase.
(2) (tJ) Civilian Combat Correspondent Pools (Ccps).
(a) (U) let COSCOM-PAO will be prepared to
receive civilian correspondents as allocated by XVIII Abn
Corps.
(b) (U) Pools could be a mix of television.
radio, print reporters. and still photographers.
(c) (U) Effective upon the initiation of
hostilities, coverage of forward deployed forces will be
restricted to the pooled news reports filed by CCPS. Field
commanders are authorized to return all unancorted
journalists to the DHAHRAN JIB from forward battle areas.
Unescorted non-pool journalists discovered in the forward
area of operations will be returned by military escort via
the chain of command to JIB DHAHRAN.
(d) (U) Utilization of CCPS to cover combat
operations.
(1)(Q)ln the event hostilities become
imminent, CCPS will be forward deployed. Gorrespondent(s)
will be escorted by lat COSCOM-PAO or his representative.
(2) (U) USCINCCENT retains authority to
release the status and results of combat operations in the
theater, through daily operational briefings.
(3) (U) When USCINCCENT determines that combat
operations have stabilized to the degree that unilateral
media coverage is feasible, the CCFS will be dissolved. lat
COSCOM-PAO will then coordinate and execute media coverage in
accordance with procedures employed during the
pre-hogtilities phase of OPERATION DESERT STORM. The extent
of post-hostilitieg coverage of US forces will be determined
by individual commanders based on their ability to
accommodate media requests.
(4) (U) While associated. members of the CCP should be
treated as de facto members of the unit, consistent with
