                0. (U) interviews with or visual imagery of patients
           undergoing psychiatric treatment are not authorized.

           8. (U) The following information may be furnished to the
           media.

                a. .(U) The date of admission to or release from the
           medical facility.

                b.  (U) Current assessment of the pattent's condition,
           phrased  as 'stable/good/fair/gerioug/critical.'

                C.  (U) Biographical data not directly related to
           medical  treatment, such as unit, awards, mos, education, age.
           length  in service. etc.

                d. (U) A description of the patient's condition. other
           than provided for above, will be provided only with the
           informed consent of the patient. Such information will be
           limited to identifying the type of wound on injury suffered
           (for example, small-arms wound. fragment wound, arm fracture,
           etc.). Coverage of wounded or Injured personnel obtained
           without adherence to these ground rules will not be used.

           9. (U) News media requests to travel aboard aeromedical
           flights (especially to CONUS) will be considered on a
           cas.e-by-case basis, but require approval of USCIMCCENT,
           OASD-PA. service chiefs, and the Surgeon General in charge.
           Requests will not normally be approved. Surgeon General has
           ultimate authority.

           10. (U) Coverage of arrival of aeromedical flights to EUCOM
           and CONUS will follow established procedures. i.e.. photo
           coverage from a suitable distance. privacy of patient
           identity (faces), no interviews during transfers to medical
           facilities.


           11. (U) Release of information on casualties.

                a. (U) Although generic information on casualties
           (light. moderate, heavy) will be included in daily operations
          briefings. specific numberg/names will be required as soon as
           possible.

                b. (U) Next-of-kin (NOK) notification is mandatory
           before release of names of casualties. Services are
           responsible for notifying NOX and providing OASD-PA with
           approved/releasable lists of names, units and hometowns of
          -casualties. Namea of casualties will not be released in
           theater.

                C. (U) OASD-PA will release periodically (as
           available) Memoranda for Correspondents with names of
