           2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/05/91.

           3. (U) KEYWORDS: RWO (REAL WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY), ACTIVE
           COMPONENT, C2 (COMMAND AND CONTROL), ORDERS, ACCOUNTABILITY,
           INTEROPERABILITY, PLANNING.

           4. (U) TITLE: LOGISTICS: UPECO: Station Property Deployed

           5. (U) OBSERVATION: Station property was transported to theater
           of operation.

           6. (U) DISCUSSION: It was identified during actual deployment
           inventories that almost all units had pieces of station property
           (desk, refrigerator, computer, typewriter, etc.) which
           accompanied the advance party to the Theater of Operation. These
           actions resulted in incorrect inventory counts/shortages.
           7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: Commanders must implement accountability
           procedures for all equipment/property.

           B. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Prior to deployment, property taken
           by deploying unit should be removed from unit's hand receipt
           document and a change documen-t added to show removal of
           property.
