          2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/(-)7/91.

          4. (U) TITLE. LOGISTICS: NEW EQUIF'MENT PURCHASES


          5. (U) OBSERVATION: Valuable time was lost and resources were
          not properly utilized.

          6. (U) DISCUSSION: Containers and chassis were
          pLirchased/received in less than safe and operable condition.
          Maintenance resources were required, after the fact, to inspect
          and repair selected items. Magellan (positioning devices) were
 0        procured and required fabrication of brackets/holders. Again,
          maintenance personnel were unaware of resources requirements
          until equipment had been received.

          7. (U) LESSON LEARNED: none


          e. (U) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Maintenance Division should be
          advised of Major purchases impacting on available resources.
          Prior knowledge of requirements will allow for crossleveling
          personnel and prestocking necessary materials.
