                                                                      04/19/91
                                    JULLS LONG REPORT

           1. (U) JULLS NUMBER: 32852-90154 (00291), submitted by RILEY
           AFZN-DL-S, Ms Tanksley, 856-2811, (913)239-2811.

           2. (U) Operation DESERT SHIELD conducted by USCENTCOM on 02/05/91.

           3. (U) KEYWORDS: PLANNING, RWO (REAL WORLD OPS), USA (US ARMY),
ACTIVE COMPONENT, LOGISTICS, SUPPLY, UNFAVORABLE, AVAILABILITY,
           SHORTAGE, INTEROPERABILITY, CRIT3 (IMPORTANT PROBLEM).

           4. (U) TITLE: Logistics: Recurring Demands at Self Service Supply
           Center/Inflated

           S. (u) OBSERVATION: All lines in SSSC are considered stockage
lines and build up a demand history. Requisitions are
automatically produced based on stock on hand and the number of
           demands.

           6. (u) DISCUSSION: During November and December when the
Division units were buying their SSSC supplies preparing for
deployment the demands were out of sight. Since all lines are
stockage lines the system is not going to realize that this was
an exceptional time and is going to reorder based on the demands
experienced so far this year. All line because they are
stockage are considered recurring. To preclude excessive
buying, the requisitioning objective for each line must now be
           manually changed.

           7. (u) LESSON LEARNED: During high peak demands such as
deployment/mobilization, the AUTORO system must be programed to
           accept the higher volumes.

           S. (u) RECOMMENDED ACTION: That AUTOROS be programmed to accept
           "Non-Recurring Demands" during exceptional situations.

           9. (u) COMMENTS: none
