          4. (U) TITLE: Logistics: Unassigned Weapons and Protective Masks
          Not Turned in By Units

          5. (Lt) OBSERVATION. Inability to obtain weapons and masks for
          replacements.

          6. (u) DISCUSSION: Units took their unassigned protective masks
and weapons with them. When replacements arrive at Fort Riley,
there were none available to issue to them.

          7. (u) LESSON LEARNEDT A workable plan must be developed so
that the deploying units turn in their unassigned weapons and
protective masks to be issued to arriving replacements to
          prevent shortages.

          S. (u) RECOMMENDED ACTION: Units tltrn-in unassigned protective
masks and weapons so they will be available to issue to
replacements. This was discussed early in deployment but no
workable plan was devised. This was eventually resolved by
having CRC's (Jackson, Banning and Knc))<) issue masks and weapons
          to replacements.

          9. (LL) COMMENTS: none
